Sustainable Houston’s Goal is to discuss sustainable resources and options in the Houston Metroplex Area. In addition to articles, the goal is to build a community of like minded folks and create a resource directory of local and sustainable businesses.
Paula Puffer, (a.k.a Houston Sustain) is a graduate of Iowa State University. While attending Iowa State she worked for the Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Rural Development (CIKARD). As a member of CIKARD, she wrote two annonated bibliographies on Sustainable Agriculture and Somali Camel Pastoralists. Her interest in sustainability and environmental stewardship was re-ignited over the past few years through nature photography and when she started gardening again in the spring 2009. Since then she’s become a member of Urban Harvest, and started this site so that othe Houston residents have access to the information and resources she’s discovered.
In addition to this site, Paula has a site that focuses on her daily life and hobbies - dontbeapicklebump.com . She also has a professional web site that features her writing and photography projects.

Hi Paula,
I stumbled across your website and thought you may be interested in checking out the company I work for.
The Ground Up is a landscape supply company. We manufacture all-organic mulch, soils, and compost and carry a full line of materials (sands, gravel, rock, ect)
Creating organically beneficial, sustainable environments is something we value greatly.
We’d love to know if you have any upcoming events or if you ever provide links to organic products for your viewers. Any way we can get involved in furthering the sustainable mission, just let me know!
